Parisa Ghasemi , born in 1987 in Iran, base in Linz & Vienna, Austria. She completed her bachelor and master studies in film at Tehran University of the Arts. She gained practical experience in the field of film in Tehran and started her master’s degree in time-based media at the Linz University of Art in 2014 in Austria. She is a Member of VDFS – Collecting Society Of Austrian Filmmakers.
She focuses her activity around film, and has a special content interest in social political awareness and the rights of minorities. She makes feature films. Works as an author director and producer. She also organizes film festivals, intercultural exchange and cultural events.
In 2018, she co-founded with Ashkan Nematian the non-profit film and cultural association Closefilm and the first Linz International Short Film Festival to expand the horizons of short film for aspiring filmmakers. Due to her recognition in the Iranian and Austrian short film industry, she has also established and promoted exchanges between films and artists from these two countries. She has also been a board member of KUPF Kulturplattform Oberösterreich since February 2020. In 2020, she was a jury member in the Cultural Directorate of the City of Linz for the special funding Linz Impuls. She was line producer of the feature-length film project Looteyo in 2020. She was a member of the jury of 49th Festival of Nations.
She has been present at numerous events and industry markets, such as Festival de Cannes, Clermont Ferrand Short Film Festival, Viennale, Diagonale, Crossing Europe, VIS (Vienna International Shorts).
